Very long cold winter
I'm from Chicago and I thought I escape the cold winters... Well the only thing I can say is right after I bought my first boat and tuned it is when the weather turned bad. The only thing that doesn't make me feel too bad about the weather is that I blew a head gasket on my boat. We finally got it running good and the only semi nice day in January we went out and almost had to be towed back.. That looks like a 60's vintage OMC outdrive, for two reasons; OMC is the only manufacturer that used a gear drive power trim ( Merc's were always hydraulic rams ) and that kinda square exhaust port / trim tab. The engine is possibly a 351…

Looking for info
I just purchased this boat and have never owned a boat before. I am an ASE certified mechanic so I am mechanically inclined. I need help in identifying my stern drive. I think it is a Mercruiser Alpha one from what I have been reading. Does anybody know how to ID these mine hase been painted and no marking that I have seen.This is what I have done so far with getting the boat water ready.
